Yosemite Backpacking (The EPIC Backcountry)

Backpacking in the Yosemite backcountry had been a bucket list trip of ours for some time. When we finally made it happen, we were treated to one of the most amazing experiences we've ever had. That says a lot.

We began our journey at the Mono Meadow trailhead, south of Yosemite Valley. We hiked to Illilouette Creek, and on to Illilouette Falls, after which we camped up the mountain side. On our second day, we made our way north to Yosemite Valley, where we crossed at Nevada Falls. We then pressed on to the summit of Clouds Rest, where we enjoyed awesome views. We went down the north face of the mountain for our second night of camping. Day three brought us to Sunrise Lakes, through an alpine meadow, and down to Echo Valley where we spent our third night. For our final day in the Yosemite backcountry, we followed the Merced River as is cascaded through the granite, down into Lost Valley. From there, we linked back up with our previous path at Nevada Falls, where we continued through, reaching our trailhead where it all started. Overall, we covered about 55 miles in 4 days. It was rigorous, inspiring, and spectacular.

Yosemite National Park is truly and American treasure, and our experience in the backcountry showed us why. We hope showing you will inspire you to do some Yosemite backpacking of your own.
