Abstract:
The quartic self-interaction of primordial curvature perturbation $\zeta$ could lead to non-zero trispectrum of $\zeta$, which further contributes to scalar-induced GWs (SIGWs).
In particular, the trispectrum can break the parity due to a parity-breaking quartic Lagrangian. We show that this effect can be inherited by SIGWs in the sense that the power spectra of right-handed and left-handed polarizations are different while keeping the total power spectrum invariant.
We numerically compute the trispectrum contributions to SIGWs for both parity-even and parity-odd trispectra in Ghost inflation. Even though it is bounded to be small, the parity-odd signal can be comparable to the parity-even non-Gaussian part, and serve as a probe of Ghost inflation and of parity-violating physics.
