Getting Clean in the Rain (Non-Speaking in the Rain Vignettes) Susan BoYoung Bailey Schabacker

It's often an epic challenge for the homeless living on the streets to get clean, unless there's a shower or bath to borrow. Well, God intended for everyone to be clean, and I had a somewhat epic epiphany, on this rainy day realizing I could do the same.

I've struggled with homelessness before and know how difficult it is just to survive. Thankfully, I've been given hand outs and hands up and am now living in an apartment in downtown WS, NC, where I filmed this on a rainy Saturday afternoon with bar soap (special thanks to Cristen of Lizzie's All Natural Products for ginger + white tea bar soap), wash cloth, castile soap, and loofah in hand.

It was actually quite liberating lathering up in the parking lot, like in nature's shower (though not able to control the temperature).

A rainy day may be grey and you may have to put your outdoor event plans away for another day, but can be a blessing in many ways. With God turning the metaphoric faucet on, let nature rejoice, as our earth becomes greener and more vibrant as the plants, trees, and flowers are hydrated.

And, those tiny rain droplets of water that fall like healing tears from the sky. They wash away the pollution, dirt, grime, cigarette butts and litter, vomit, blood, sweat, and tears of our earthly cares and represent cleansing, purifying, healing, as well as renewal and restoration of hope.

Some blessings are blessings in disguise that we may not realize at the time. So, next time there's a rainy day, no need be down and depressed about it. Instead, be thankful and count your blessings.
