The transit that ended my first Corduroy

Included here are parts of the transit after the McCrumb's test to show what prematurely ended my race before the final test of the day for my class group. I wasn't recording when I fell on a rocky uphill and got hit by another rider but I was recording again when I came across my support guy at a road crossing. He added fuel to my bike but forgot to put the fuel tank cap back on. This is very clearly visible in the video but with both of us concentrating on removing the broken rear fender and me without out my glasses, we totally missed this which soon turned out to have a catastrophic impact on my race. Further along that transit route is a water crossing of the Irondale River. I rushed and took a bad line and fell over in the river. This totally submerged my airbox and air filter and also flooded my fuel tank with water. With all of this, I STILL didn't notice my fuel cap dangling by the breather hose even though that and the gaping opening to the tank were right in front of me. I was able to push my bike to the little island in the river but I stopped recording while I drained the tank, removed and squeezed out the air filter, and got my front wheel high in the air to drain water from the rest of the bike. A few other bikes got watered out while I was there and a spectator said that the river claimed a lot of bikes and racers that day. I eventually pushed my bike back to the shore that I had started from by taking a much better route that I should have taken the first time. I had never taken my real phone with me while riding before but I did this time and was able to call my support guy who brought gas. I was able to get my bike running again and rode back to the main parking/camping area. I was soaked, tired, and disappointed but I changed into dry clothes and sat out in the sun and thought about the positives for the day. My first Corduroy race experience had ended sooner than I wanted but I'm still glad I tried it.
