Topic: How quickly do you respond when Jesus calls? (12 January 2026 - Only By Grace Reflections)

As we enter Ordinary Time, this Gospel passage reminds us that God often works in ordinary moments. Jesus doesn’t always call us in dramatic ways. Sometimes, He calls us right in the middle of our routine, our work, our daily life. And like the apostles, we’re faced with a question: How quickly do I respond when Jesus calls? What “nets” am I holding onto? Comfort? Security? Old habits? Distractions? Just as Michael Jordan chose not to let failure define him, the apostles chose not to let fear or comfort hold them back. They trusted the call, even without seeing the full picture.

The beautiful truth is this: Jesus didn’t just speak those words by the Sea of Galilee 2,000 years ago. He speaks them to us today. “This is the time.” “Come after me.” The present moment, right now is where grace is offered. So in your prayer time today, take a few moments to reflect on this questions: How quickly do I respond when Jesus calls? Where is Jesus calling me to follow Him more closely? And what nets do I need to let go of so I can respond fully? Don’t let the moment pass. Because Jesus is calling you now.
