How to repair accident damage on rear bumper and tail light Vauxhall Opel Zafira including paint

Follow a simple step by step process on how to repair accident damage to a plastic bumper and replace a broken tail light. The garage had quoted £500 for a fix that I did in a little over 24 hours and with basic tools, all available for less than £150. Not a bad saving for a days work!

Note - make sure you use adequate PPE and work in a well ventilated area. Do not breathe in dust particles of fumes from aerosols, they are hazardous to your health. This is an information video only, I accept no liability for your actions.

These steps will work for any plastic panel, and both front and rear bumpers:
Step 1 - remove damaged components
Step 2 - sand back the damaged areas to a clean surface
Step 3 - apply a thin coat of filler
Step 4 - sand the filler back to flush with the panel
(repeat steps 3 and 4 as required)
Step 5 - key the area you intend to paint with some fine sandpaper (800grit or 1200 grit)
Step 6 - mask the area properly, cover anything you don't want to paint including wheels
Step 7 - clean the area using a solvent to ensure its dust free
Step 8 - apply primer
Step 9 - apply base (colour) coat
step 10 - apply clear coat
(fro steps 8, 9 & 10, spray a light 'dust coat' first and let that dry, then a thicker coat to provide coverage, and finally a thick 'top' coat. Let it dry before moving onto the next step).
