"Guru Dutt, the name itself brings forth images of a fantastic actor, talented writer, and a very sensitive filmmaker. Despite his limited repertoire, his name is written in golden words in the history of Indian Cinema, thanks to the Iconic films he made during his short life.
Guru Dutt was a very unconventional and creative being who always craved perfection and who was always in search of something. And these traits were present in him right from his childhood. He started his journey as a choreographer before turning towards the direction. His chance meeting with Dev Anand developed into a deep friendship wherein both promised to give each other a chance to work in their own films. And both fulfilled their promises.
After directing ‘Baazi’ & ‘Jaal’ Guru Dutt turned towards acting with ‘Baaz’ and successfully acted in his own productions ‘Aar Paar’ & ‘Mrs. & Mrs. 55’. And the success of these films prompted him to make his masterpiece ‘Pyaasa’ that brought him on the World Cinema map.
SCREEN LEGENDS – Guru Dutt Part 1 traces the journey of the genius from his birth to his success as a filmmaker. And all along shows his brilliant work through his movie clips and scenes."
