A lot of videos that touch on gradient maps don’t really talk about what makes a good colour palette or how to make one yourself, usually they just skim over pre-made presets. So I wanted to give a guide for how you can easily make multiple different palettes from scratch, so you can modify them however you like.

For people who like talking about the semantics, layer modes (blend modes) are not the same as correction layers (adjustment layers) or masks. While they all are functions used by editing and painting softwares, every layer used in this video was a normal mode layer! Cool right?
You can actually combine all of these together, add a layer mode to a correction layer AND add a mask… but that’s way too complicated, unless… hmmm
