This week, let’s make a Cigar Bar original, Tokyo Gardens. This drink was inspired by a 2009 cocktail book by Yuri Kato called Japanese Cocktails. It’s focus is mostly on sake and shochu cocktails as well as a section using predominantly Japanese whiskeys. Most of the recipes are relatively light on the main spirit, making them a nice change from the usual, but for Tokyo gardens we’ll make it with some more, ahem, modern proportions.
For the rosemary syrup, make a typical 2:1 syrup of 2 cups water to 1 cup sugar. Smack three or four sprigs of rosemary and toss em in the pot and bring to a boil and simmer until reduced by about half. Strain, chill, and use.
Tokyo Gardens
2 oz Ginger-Infused Gin
.5 oz Aperol
.5 oz Blood Orange Juice
.25 oz Yuzu Juice
.25 oz Rosemary-Infused Simple Syrup
