With Remembrance Day, November 11th, of this Canada’s 150th year, fast approaching, and it being a year since the passing of my friend, WWII Veteran and distinguished businessman: Mr. Bob Innes.. I dug deep into my archive and decided to share the full, unedited, on-camera interview I conducted with Mr. Innes while back at film school, for my Tooton Documentary Project. I share the contents of my afternoon chat, from St. John’s, Newfoundland, conducted with Mr. Innes to pay homage to all those valiant men and women, in uniform, who dedicate themselves to service. We must cherish their stories and celebrate their lives, for as Mr. Innes proved, they are forever consumed in service!
“Bob was well known in the community for his active involvement in business as founding president of the St. John’s Board of Trade, a Past President of the Rotary Club of St. John’s, first Chairman of the Port Authority of St. John’s, a Director of Canada Ports Corporation and Canadian Director of International Ports and Harbour’s Association.
Bob was equally well known as a talented musician. He collaborated with many musicians and was never too tired or too old to share his love of music. A veteran of World War Two, he was in charge of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps Railhead Depot in Botwood, Newfoundland. He was an honorary member of the Crow’s Nest and the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club as well as a member of the St. Andrew’s Society and the Royal Commonwealth Society. Bob’s enthusiasm and warmth for life and people will be missed by all who knew him.”
