Logic Displays (logics): The blinky lights on R2-D2’s head.
In the original trilogy, R2’s logics were a fiber-optic and color-wheel assembly. Each “pixel” of the display would transition colors as the color-wheel rotated. This gave a pleasing organic analog effect.
The R2 Builders Club had primarily used logic displays with static colored LEDs which fade (JEDI, 2008) or blink (Teeces, 2010) on and off.
Released in 2014 as the next-generation of Teeces logics, the RSeries Logic Engine employed RGB LED’s which cross-fade between colors. This coupled with a fiber-optic assembly gives a screen accurate Original Trilogy display.
This video goes over the assembly process.
