What Exactly Was Formula Renault?

Does anyone remember Formula Renault?

I'm joking of course but does anyone remember how well established the different categories were? Well for anyone who might be unaware, and wants to take a little tour down memory lane, this is the video for you.

Formula Renault may not have had the prestige that the FIA's Global Pathway has now, but during its day it had a rich history with many drivers going through its ranks to get to the top step of the ladder.

Drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Kevin Magnussen, Jean-Éric Vergne, Daniel Ricciardo, and a bunch of others all made their way through the various series.

And while it may all be gone today, it lives on in the experiences it has given its many graduates.

GFC = Global Financial Crisis

This is in reference to the oldest series, which used a range of different engine configurations before settling on a 2.0L engine.
