Transferring New Vanda Orchids from Bare Root to Baskets with Bark! No More Daily Soaks!

Today we’re going to transfer my new Vandas into my usual basket set up with bark, as I find they do much better in my care in baskets with some bark to hold onto moisture for a bit longer! I’m not keeping up with the watering with them bare root, so this set up works so much better for me, and for them! I’ve been doing this with all my Vandas for over 6 months now, and the results have been just great! No more hours of daily soaking :-)

I use coco husk as a basket liner, then large grade bark filled in around the root system. I then soak these for 30 minutes each once per week on average, or whenever they need it. In peak summer temperatures this is twice a week. For some more moisture loving Vandas I also add moss to the mix.
