Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885. It's located in Alberta's Rocky Mountains, west of Calgary.
Features:
Size: 6,641 square kilometers of mountains, valleys, glaciers, forests, meadows, and rivers
Wildlife: Black and grizzly bears, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and many other mammal and bird species
Attractions: Lake Louise, Sunshine Meadows, Icefields Parkway
Town of Banff: A municipality within the park that serves as a visitor center
Visitors
Visitors must respect wildlife and not feed it
Dogs must be on a leash
Visitors must dispose of all garbage
Visitors must obey Parks Canada's area closures and restricted activity notices

Banff National Park is open year-round
Many hotels and lodging facilities offer programs during summer, and some also offer ski packages
Some campgrounds have electricity, showers, laundry facilities, food lockers, fire pits, cooking shelters, and even interpretive programs
