Everybody claims they paint "Grimdark" these days, but only a few truly care about the most crucial elements of Grimdark. Sometimes we hear that it’s all about adding oil washes, blood splattering, or in some of the worst cases, that it's about using a sponge. Grimdark is none of these things.

Want to paint your miniatures Grimdark? You have to practice making them look and feel Grimdark. Practice replicating the aesthetic of the grimdark universes you're trying to represent. Use all paints at your disposal & understand their properties. Acrylics, oils, enamels, pigments, and many more - they all have their uses.
