Travel with Sam as he hosts a special tasting for the last two bottles in the series on board a steam train running the old Caledonian Railway route. Joining him to talk about the history of whisky and railways are Robin Barnes, the series’ artist; Jon Gill, chairman of the Caledonian Railway at Brechin, and Moa Nilsson - whisky expert and amateur historian AKA Swedish Whisky Girl.

The Cask 88 Scotch Express series rekindles the age-old relationships between whisky distilleries and the railways that connected them to their markets in the 19th Century.
Before 1923, Scotland’s rail network was privately run by a patchwork of companies, all vying with each other for control over the best routes and the love of the public. In the end, five companies bit, kicked and scrambled their way to supremacy, connecting Scotland up with miles of new rail and beckoning in a new era of mobility.

The Scotch Express series is a collection of 5 bottles of single malt Scotch Whisky, each representing one of the big 5 companies and a distillery that operates in their territory. With artwork lovingly painted by Robin Barnes, the Scotch Express series brings the collaboration of spirit and steam to life again.
