While considered part of the Caribbean, the islands of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) bear a closer geological relation to mainland South America. Having been separated about ten or eleven thousand years ago, the biodiversity of these two islands is therefore considerably different from the other islands of the West Indies. With a surface area of only 5,131 square kilometres, the islands of T&T pack surprising variety in terms of habitat and climate. In this webinar, Faraaz talks about how these two factors combine to make T&T a unique birding destination, and how to comfortably view a couple hundred species in a couple of weeks with ample time set aside to soak in the famed “Caribbean island vibration”.
