Daisy’s favorite place - The Cottage September 29, 2023

I made this video for us to remember her as she loved walking around at the cottage & I had a feeling this was gonna be her last trip there, and it was! :(
She hasn’t been doing well these past couple of weeks, hardly eating, and losing weight, and we thought she was just getting old (She turns 11 on Nov 19), but I took her to the Vet and the blood work showed she has some form of cancer, she’s anemic and said that from tge numbers on the results, she was a very sick dog!
We have her on steroids till we go get her blood count done again on Tuesday, Oct 3rd, to see if it’s doing anything. If it did bring the numbers up, she said we definitely need to keep her on them, so we will!
I felt the need to go to the cottage with her now as I’m scared she won’t be able to walk next time we go, because I’m seeing a big change in her walking! Her back end is not strong, she’s a little wabbly and she can’t jump into the car or out anymore, I have to help her!
It’s so hard seeing her look so sad when we’re just sitting around so I wanted to give her a little bit of fun before she gets worse.
She’s been part of our family since she was a puppy and she’s been such a great greeter to my stamping friends too, they all love her!
I was happy to see her eat treats that a couple of the girls brought to class for her last Thursday because she won’t eat the ones I got her, so I did go buy her the same ones! lol She did eat good yesterday, so I hope she keeps it up! We’ll see what the Vet says in a couple days. Hope we get better news this time but I’m not holding my breathe.
I just don’t want Daisy to suffer, so I hope she tells me when she’s had enough. I made this video to have memories of her walking around beeing curious & looking for her squirrels as one of the happy memories we'll have of her! 🐿️🐾 She sure is loved!
**October 4th update**
When I took Daisy back to the Vet yesterday, it wasn't good news! She did gain 1 pound being on steroids, but she could feel a mast on her left side now that there was so fat & muscles, so she said that is probably where she's bleeding internally, it's a tumour. And she ran new blood tests to find out the steroids didn't bring it up at all, as a matter of fact, it got even lower from 28 to 18%, and the normal is about 33%! So it confirmed it was indeed Cancer! :(
I asked how long she could go like this, weeks or months, and Dr Martin answered not even a week! This was so heartbreaking!!! I asked her advice, I asked if she was suffering, and she didn't think she was in pain, but was going to get more & more tired every day, and have more difficulty breathing to the point she will go hide to be alone & concentrate on her breathing and it will probably stop her heart! She said we would probably all want to be with her to help her through, so I said I would go home with her & discuss with Rocky & our daughters once I gave them the sad news. So at first, we said we would call in the morning to make the appointment for Thursday, but then as it got later in the evening last night, we could see her dropping fast & looked so sad, so we decided to ask if they could take us today, so we did, we had her appointment for 4pm, October 4th. It was a very hard decision to make as she couldn't tell us when she'd have enough, but we spent all morning & day with her up till her last breath there. It was such a sad & hard thing to experience, I cannot explain! But deep inside, I know it was the right thing to do for our Daisy! We told her over & over that we loved her & that she was a great dog and I told her I'd see her again some day! God Bless her & may he wrap her in his arms tightly! Rest in Peace Daisy!
