This Parkrun Isn’t Flat... At All 😅 | Potternewton Parkrun POV Experience

This week's parkrun story comes from Potternewton Park.

This challenging run, in Leeds, takes you through beautiful green spaces, inclines and has a great community vibe to it — the DJ at the top of the first hill is a legend. The route is just short of three laps of the park and is certainly a challenge well, for me it was. It's a great run to do and it's all on pathstoo, so no matter the weather it should be all fine to do. There are a few hills but remember, what goes up does come down - although it's hard to appreciate that when you're doing it.

There's street parking nearby, just be wary as it's in a residential area. I parked next to the park, nearish the start line. There's also a coffee shop (Mizzika 555, I think) nearby some of the runners go to afterwards.

Today was my first run in a few weeks, so it was certainly a challenging one to start with. I am also in training for the York 10k, for which I am wofefully behind where I want to be - but hey ho! I have ran Potternewton twice now and today I managed a location PB, with a time of 26:07, and a top 10 age category finish so I am quite pleased with that.

A little about me. I have been running, or taking it seriously, for about 18 months now. The aim really was to aid with my mental health and I must admit I am loving it. Since turning 40 I have found myself doing more Parkruns, more medal races and more walks so I decided to buy a GoPro, along with a Garmin watch, and record them and make them into a YouTube video(s). I don't plan to commentate on them, it's more to give folk an idea of what the course is like beforehand. Hopefully, these videos will also give you some parkrun ideas.
