Chelmsford City cruised into the Second Round with a dominant 4-1 victory over Braintree Town in the First Round Proper at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Clarets took control early as Jason Adigun opened the scoring in the 19th minute, before Lyle Taylor grabbed his first goal nine minutes later. John Akinde briefly reduced the deficit for Braintree on 37 minutes, but Jesurun Uchegbulam restored City's two-goal cushion before the break, and Taylor completed his brace five minutes into the second half. Despite Braintree's red card hampering their comeback hopes, Chelmsford's clinical finishing and commanding 75% possession sealed a comprehensive cup victory.
