Note that this circuit as demonstrated poses a risk of electrocution and is being run under controlled conditions.
I built this using the values in a roughly FS-4 equivalent electronic starter @DiodeGoneWild featured in a teardown recently, the only difference being that I used a 110V avalanche diode (Z4KE110A) instead of the original ~200V avalanche diode to see if this circuit will work as an FS-2 equivalent starter for F14T12, F15T8, F15T12, F18T8 and F20T12 42V to 60V fluorescent lamps. The circuit works with no other modifications necessary.
