“Forever” is from the 15th studio album from Kiss, Hot in the Shade, released in 1989. This fine power ballad, co-written by Michael Bolton and Paul Stanley, is the most successful single for the band. The video for this tune featured the band in a large empty room, all facing each other without makeup. I really liked the contrast this video showed compared to the band’s larger-than-life live performances. They focused on a musical performance which was kind of low key, featuring an acoustic guitar solo. This was the final album to feature Eric Carr on drums before his death in 1991.
This song received quite a bit of radio play in the summer of 1990. On a personal note, at that time I had been in a long-distance relationship for four years which was finally coming to an end with my girl moving from Hawaii to Michigan to begin our life together. This heavy metal power ballad served as perfect addition to the soundtrack of my life; the lyrics felt like they were written for us. Yes, I freely admit I was moved by this (and several other) power ballads in the ‘80s!
I enjoyed rediscovering this tune for this video. I hope you enjoy this one. Please leave a comment, hit that like button and subscribe if so moved! Thanks for stopping by!
