This session explores heat pumps as a clean alternative to fossil fuel heating systems like gas furnaces and boilers. Heat pumps are essential for building decarbonisation, with the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimating they could reduce global CO₂ emissions by at least 500 million tonnes by 2030. Despite this potential, market adoption remains slow. We will examine successful implementation examples and best practices from various countries and discuss the policies needed to accelerate heat pump deployment.
