🕉️ History of Bhadraj Temple
The history of Bhadraj Temple dates back several centuries and is deeply rooted in local traditions and ancient beliefs. Though there are no written royal records, the temple has been worshipped continuously by villagers of Jaunsar-Bawar and Mussoorie region for generations.
The temple stands at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meters (7,200 feet) and has long served as a spiritual and cultural center for nearby communities. Annual fairs and rituals still preserve its ancient legacy.
📜 Mythology & Spiritual Belief
According to Hindu mythology, Bhadraj Temple is dedicated to Lord Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Krishna, also lovingly called Dau Ji.
It is believed that during the Dwapar Yuga, Lord Balarama visited this region and meditated on this very peak. His presence sanctified the land, making it a powerful spiritual center.
Local belief says:
• Bhadraj Temple protects Mussoorie from natural calamities
• Prayers offered here reach directly to Badrinath Dham
• The deity is considered the guardian of the “Valley of Milk” (Dudh Ghaati)
