樂曲旋律華麗清新、流暢活潑，常於民間喜慶場合演奏，洋溢著歡快的節日氣氛。 1962年，顧冠仁改編成彈撥樂合奏，對原曲結構做了刪減和改動，增強了音樂的力度、速度和情質的對比； 使樂隊色彩變化豐富。表現了“大弦嘈嘈如急雨，小弦切切如私語”和“間關鶯語花底滑，幽咽泉流冰下難”的 藝術情趣，賦予《三六》以新意，至今仍廣為流傳。
This lively and elegant piece is often performed at festive folk celebrations, exuding a joyful atmosphere. In 1962, Gu Guanren adapted it into a plucked-string ensemble, enhancing its dynamics, tempo, and tonal contrasts. The music captures the imagery of "thundering strings like a sudden downpour" and "delicate murmurs like private whispers." Gu’s adaptation brought fresh vitality to San Liu, making it a perennial classic.
