I know you’re all probably tired of AI and Chat GPT, but here we go again; however, the truth remains that it’s here and it's already causing a significant change in the way we think about it, or not. We had Novah Greywolf, a returning guest on the show, who knows all about AI. I wanted to get Novah’s POV on the subject and his expertise on how we all should look at the entire AI technology revolution. We have already established the dangers of technology and its suite of supporters like GPTs and AIs, but the truth of the matter is that historically, anything that is new and challenges the norm is met with resistance. A new fad starts before another one hits, and although it may be successful, there are always a million reasons why the nays say it won’t work before all find out that it actually does. AI is an entirely different matter. Novah explained that his name means the exact qualities of what the animal we call the wolf does. The scientific name for the Greywolf is “Canis Lupus”. Canis is the Latin word for “dog”; “lupus” is the Latin word for “wolf”. So ultimately, the name translates to “dog wolf”. The Greywolf, in many cultures are sacred animals that embody the fighting spirit, freedom, speed, and intelligence. Just as wolves are frightening animals to those who know nothing of their breed, they are lifesavers to some who are trained and skilled in the kind of language that wolves understand. Novah Greywolf embodies the characteristics most likely found in the purest of these animals, who are held sacred by many. When a person like Novah Greywolf uses a word like intuition, you can best believe that it has been deeply pondered upon. There are those of us who feel that AI will detract from our core abilities as humans and that a lack of use of these abilities will lead to atrophy. Writing and basic skills, such as math and other complex streams of thought that up until now only humans had access to, will no longer hold true. Job displacement, fear of what we know as daily life is being challenged, but hasn’t it always been by something or the other? I remember when jobs were plentiful because of the military and major wars that were being fought during those times. When wars declined and there was no need for qualified applicants to go to war, more jobs were created administratively, and we all gradually became confined to desks, and more public positions opened up. All able adults, be they men, women, or otherwise, were made to find new ways to live and earn an income. As Novah says, AI and Chat are tools, and with new tools comes a new level of responsibility. There are ethical and philosophical concerns that are obviously aroused when things like the use and regulation of AI and new technologies arise. The truth of the matter is that there are no regulations because we do not understand enough as of yet to know how to regulate these things. As Greywolf said, they are tools like a cell phone, a car, a tool saw, a lawnmower, a knife, it all depends on the user of the tool, which should be our biggest concern. These tools are dangerous in the wrong hands; however, for a culinary chef, a knife is a work of wonder and a relentless and necessary tool for cutting. A tool can be a tool for pain or pleasure. Does this mean that we, as the people, should just sit down, shut up, and not question our newest digital lovers, or should we rise up in outrage against the machines?. Should we carefully plan how to get along with them? As we well know by now, manipulation and the misuse of power can be devastating events for anyone, but can we trust anyone in today's elite to do the right thing? Novah talked about certain sensitivities regarding the rapid use of AI and Chat and forewarned that there are lots of these technologies and that they are everywhere. Are they friends or foes? We are told that it all depends on the user. To spark rage is to heighten the fear of something that is in its embryonic stages, on some level,s is premature but should be given deeper thought as we move further into its development. Authenticity: Are we to now believe that AI can write books, produce art, mimic humans, and if so, would this mean that its actions and responses, its causes and effects are truly authentic? Can we continue to gauge what a human would do in a simulated situation, and can these things be viewed as human or android? Rejection involves a bit of psychological safety that is resistant to change and establishes a sense of uncertainty. In the case of AI, if humanity experienced a change in consciousness and really understood the many depths and chambers of the mind, then AI could considerably be the thing that drives and fuels an already existing digital and mental imprint.
