*Tihar Festival | A Celebration of Lights, Love, and Tradition | Nepali Festival*
Tihar, also known as Deepawali or the Festival of Lights, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Nepal. This vibrant five-day festival honors different animals, gods, and goddesses, and celebrates the triumph of light over darkness. Tihar brings families and communities together, filled with colorful decorations, prayers, feasts, and rituals.
✨ **Day 1 - Kaag Tihar**: Honoring crows as messengers of death.
✨ **Day 2 - Kukur Tihar**: Celebrating dogs, the loyal companions of humans.
✨ **Day 3 - Gai Tihar and Laxmi Puja**: Worshiping cows and welcoming Goddess Laxmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
✨ **Day 4 - Govardhan Puja**: Paying tribute to the cow and the mountain for providing for the community.
✨ **Day 5 - Bhai Tika**: A special day for brothers and sisters, where sisters put Tika (a mixture of colored powders) on their brothers’ foreheads to pray for their long life and success.
Throughout Tihar, homes and streets are decorated with oil lamps (diyas), candles, and vibrant rangolis, creating a festive atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and unity.
