Oto znaleziony w archiwach pamiętny koncert Chumbawamba w zgorzeleckim MDK, który odbył się 13.11.1994 w ramach pierwszej wizyty zespołu w Polsce.
Wtedy wydali pamiętny album "Anarchy" i byli u szczytu popularności.
Brytanii książce wspomnieniowej "Footnote*" gitarzysty Chumbawamba Boffa Whalley'a.

This is Chumbawamba memorable concert in Local House of Culture in Zgorzelec, Poland, which took place on 11th Nov 1994 as a part of their first ever visit to Poland.
The band just released massive album "Anarchy" and were at the peak of popularity. It was a great show, definitely one of the best and biggest in the series of gigs during the 10-year-long organization of events there by a local indie promoter Maken.
About 1000 fans attended the show (far more than the venue capacity!), not only from all Poland, but also from Germany and the Czech Republic. The supports were (not included in the video) Polish Alians and Spiky Fly. Other memories of this show is a note from the book "Footnote*" by Chumbawamba's guitarist Boff Whalley:
"In the sub-zero winter of 1994 we drove to Poland for the first time [...]. Poznan City Hall was a monument to the sweeping symbolic grandeur of state communism[...].
We decided straight away that we loved Poland. Driving across the German/Polish border the day before, to play in a small town called Zgorzelec, we'd driven down the main street to see 'Welcome Chumbawmaba!' painted across the tarmac as we entered the town. The concert there that night remains of the best I've ever played.[...] In the foyer of the hall, several stalls selling home-printed Chumbawamba shirts for a price that ridiculed our own. We quickly decided not to sell our merchandise to give space fort he local bootleg trade. We couldn't compete and didn't want to. As we played that night, for the first time I had tears in my eyes, on stage.[...]
It was about people creating community outside the suffocating, monolithic environment of state control, a community not created artifically by MTV or Disney."
Miłego oglądania!
