Lake District Summit Camp on Green Gable in the MSR Access 1, followed by climbing Great Gable. I chose to camp on Green Gable for views of Gable crag, but it is also has great views down to Langdale, Bowfell, the Scafell range, plus Pillar and Ennerdale.
Started from Honister Pass and went over Grey Knotts where there are some interesting tarns and rocky outcrops with great views.
The weather was fine but windy, as you will hear, until the evening when the rain came. Overnight the clouds did part and got impressive views of the Orion constellation and Mars over Gable Crag, but it was short lived.
Day two the clouds were back although they did lift by the time I got to the top of Great Gable, and was rewarded with fantastic views down Wasdale from the Westmorland Cairn area.
