We leave the gentle midlands countryside, with its farms, fields and woods, and pass through the Leicester suburbs of Wigston, Glen Parva and Aylestone, before passing the huge weir and joining the River Soar at Freeman Meadows Lock, finally arriving in central Leicester to moor for the night.
Warning: big rant about the Canal and River Trust's ridiculous "Living Bank" policy of planting reed beds all along the canal.
