Katholiek-Islamitische Uitvaart van Broeder Bathos

Aanwezigen waren zusters en broeders van het st Lioba Monasterium, vertegenwoordigers van st. Adelbert Abdij, diverse interreligieuze vrienden van Bathos, met deelname van de Alawiyya-Darqawiyya-Shadiliya Soefi Gemeenschap die sjeik Khaled Bentounes hebben vertegenwoordigd, passages uit de Koran hebben voorgedragen en gedichten uit de islamitische mystiek hebben gezongen.

Een historische uitvaart waar de Benedictijnse toewijding en de liefde voor islamitische mystiek van wijlen broeder Bathos zichtbaar is geworden als kroon op z'n jarenlange inzet voor de interreligieuze dialoog.

Funeral of Brother Bathos

Attendees were sisters and brothers of the St. Lioba Monastery, representatives from St. Adelbert Abbey, various interreligious friends of Bathos, with participation from the Alawiyya-Darqawiyya-Shadiliya Sufi Community who were represented Sheikh Khaled Bentounes. They recited passages from the Quran and sang sufi-poems.

It was a historic funeral where the Benedictine dedication and love for Islamic mysticism of the late Brother Bathos became visible, as a testament to his many years of commitment to interreligious dialogue.

Bathos était un moin bénédictin qui a oeuvrer pour l’amitie et la fraternité chrétienne-musulmane. Il a traduit des oeuvres de maitre soufi Cheikh Khaled Bentounes en néerlandais.

Les présents a ses funérailles étaient des sœurs et des frères du Monastère St Lioba, des représentants de l'Abbaye St Adelbert, représentants Catholiques, et divers amis interreligieux de Bathos, avec la participation de la communauté soufie Alawiyya-Darqawiyya-Shadiliya, qui ont représentée le Cheikh Khaled Bentounes. Ils ont récité des passages du Coran et chanté des poèmes de la mystique islamique.

Ce fut des funérailles historiques où le dévouement bénédictin et l'amour pour la mystique musulmane du regretté Frère Bathos sont devenus visibles, témoignant de ses nombreuses années d'engagement pour le dialogue interreligieux.
