Many new traders look at the pattern day trader (PDT) rule as a negative thing…

And I’ll admit I did too, once upon a time when I first started teaching.

It was hard to teach some students who were under this rule — knowing they could only make a limited amount of trades.

But what is it exactly?

Well, it’s meant to prevent traders who have less than $25,000 in trading capital from making more than three day trades per five trading days.

But this is only for traders who use margin accounts.

The same rules don’t apply to those who have cash accounts. That’s just one loophole.

Another one is making overnight plays. I’ll get into that more in this video.

Overnight plays don’t count as day trades, but there’s a caveat … They can be much riskier if you don’t have a solid plan in place.

So tune in to see how to best execute overnight plays — don’t just hold any trade!

Also, if you’re new to trading and the PDT rule applies to you, realize it can actually help you. It’s designed to protect those who are more prone to losing.
