One of the most popular Christmas carols, this song was originally written in 1818 by Austrians, Franz Xaver Gruber and Joseph Mohr as "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht". For a while it was often mistaken for a Beethoven or Mozart piece but it has now been confirmed as originating from those two humble, Austrian songwriters of the time.
Of course now it is an unforgettable and unavoidable part of Christmas for so many. Jack sang his version on his 1964 album, "The Jack Jones Christmas Album".
