Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD Lens 4K Video Test
Wide angle is always my favorited focal length. Especially for traveling. Because I do a lot of Vlogging myself, so good wide angle lens is very important for me. And this Tamron 10-24mm is my new favorited lens for holiday. End of last year I went to Bangkok, Thailand for Christmas. And I brought my Sigma 12-24mm f/4.0 Art Series lens with. (It’s an amazing lens by the way). But the size and the weight is crazy. Even though it's a great Art Series lens, super sharp. But 1.15kg for holiday is insane!! So I ended up not using it anymore.
So what wide angle lens for my holiday kit? I do own a Panasonic Lumix 7-14mm f/4.0 lens. But that lens is very slow. And it doesn’t have Image Stabilization. I was going to get the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 version. But then I saw this brand new Tamron 10-24mm lens just announced on NAB show 2017. So I went and picked one up. This is an APS-C lens. And it weights only 439g. With the Metabones SpeedBooster it works out like 12-30mm f/2.9-3.5 on a GH5 (35mm Full Frame Equivalent), Plus the lens has Image Stabilization. You can even use it for 5D Mark IV (4K Mode).
Overall, this is a great lens. Its pretty sharp. Although its a bit slow. But using it on a SpeedBooster. It turns the wide end to f/2.9, thats not too bad at all.
