Meet the Leapmotor C10, a newcomer to the EV scene with serious backing and global ambitions. Partnered with automotive giant Stellantis, Leapmotor enters markets like New Zealand and aims straight at the space occupied by Tesla and other established brands.
Highlights:
Design & Size: While it looks like a compact SUV, the C10 is actually roomy—on par with a Tesla Model Y. The sleek, button-free interior and large panoramic roof lend it a modern, premium feel.
Tech & Features: You’ll find a responsive infotainment system, dual-zone climate, and future-ready upgrades like an upcoming app-based keyless entry. Although Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren’t here yet, they’re on the way.
Performance & Range: A rear-wheel-drive 160kW setup offers a 0–100 km/h time of about 7.5 seconds and a realistic 420 km WLTP range. Efficiency matches some of the best EVs, making it easy to hit that target in real life.
Practicality: Generous cargo space, spacious rear seats, and plenty of comfort features—like USB-C fast charging—make it family-friendly and versatile.
Driver Assistance: Advanced safety tech is built in, though software refinements are ongoing. Expect improvements through updates as Leapmotor fine-tunes features.
Value: Priced around NZD $54,990, it’s a solid bargain compared to more established rivals. While warranty coverage could be longer and a few design quirks remain, the C10 offers excellent value for the money.
Verdict:
The Leapmotor C10 arrives quietly but brings genuine capability, comfort, and efficiency—without a premium price tag. If you’re exploring new EV options, this one’s worth a serious look.
