I moved to Vancouver almost five years ago. I came here for school. I considered a few places, and mulled over the decision, which seemed both completely arbitrary and incredibly meaningful. Wherever I decided upon would inform the next chapters of my life. As luck would have it, I ended up here. I’ve fallen in love with this city. It’s been an incredible place to live and learn and grow into adulthood. And while I won’t stay here forever, I made this short film as sort of a letter of appreciation of the place as I’ve come to know it over my time here.
I wrote this short film over 18 months ago for a weekly film challenge. The objective: write a love letter to your city. Mine got a bit stuck in the mud and I never submitted it, and I’ve sat on it ever since. But 18 months was long enough. I felt like I needed to finish it. It’s personal and sentimental and it comes from my heart.
