Adiala Jail Access Denied Again: Aleema Khan Leads Sit-In as PTI Demands Family Meetings with Imran Khan (Latest Updates)

Tensions rose outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi as Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, arrived for a scheduled family meeting but was blocked by authorities. Accompanied by a large number of PTI workers and supporters, including Niazullah Khan Niazi, Aleema Khan criticized the restrictions, stating that constitutional rights were being violated. Police had increased deployment, set up additional checkpoints, and stationed prisoner vans in preparation. Despite requests from lawyers and family, access was not granted, leading to a peaceful sit-in at a checkpoint before the jail. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif renewed an offer for dialogue with PTI, stating that the government remains open to discussions on legitimate issues to promote political harmony and national progress. He clarified that any talks must stay within constitutional bounds and exclude unlawful demands. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar responded positively to the idea of dialogue in principle but noted personal reservations.

At a madaris conference in Karachi, religious leaders addressed various national issues. Maulana Manzoor Mengal and others called for effective action plans beyond meetings. Maulana Fazlur Rehman highlighted perceived inconsistencies in foreign policy and criticized reliance on certain figures for support.

On the economic front, the privatization process for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) advanced with three bids received from pre-qualified parties, including groups led by Lucky Cement, Arif Habib, and Air Blue. This step follows efforts to restructure the national carrier amid ongoing reforms.
