In this video I play Wherever Racer from 2004 (version 0.1-2), a obscure Tux Racer fork which is respectively based from another obscure Tux Racer fork from 2001 called Open Racer by J. Nathan Matias. This version I found it in the Contributions repository of Mandrakelinux 10.1 Official (also included in Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005 and Mandriva 2006 Contributions repository), in a RPM package that I managed to unarchive it, and put the files into a stock Tux Racer 0.61a installation, being basically a modded Tux Racer. This game have three themes: Ice theme (which is basically identical to stock Tux Racer), Golf theme and Open theme (which is basically the Open Racer look). I somehow played the events of it and also the included tracks of them. Also I seen that it included some tracks and some events that were not present in a stock Tux Racer installation, and some of the extra tracks present in the version 0.1-2 of Wherever Racer were not present in version 0.1-1 of Wherever Racer. Also maybe someone heard about it, but personally I consider it a lost treasure. Also the page of the obscure Tux Racer fork called Open Racer is no longer available, but it is available in a archived form at the Internet Archive. The reason I put this video was for historic purposes. This game I ran on Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2 on real hardware (no VM), recorded using the VGA Out of the PC connected to a VGA to HDMI adapter which is connected to a USB HDMI Video Capture stick connected to my Ryzen 7 5700 PC, which was used for capturing, and for editing I used my ASUS VivoBook A1500EA-BQ3346 laptop. PC used for gameplay is my Matsonic MS8137C+ PC.
This version shown in the video, 0.1-2, was released initially on 06.10.2004 (date of the RPM included in Mandrakelinux 10.1 Official), and also on Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005 (aka Mandrakelinux 10.2) and Mandriva 2006 was included in the Contributions RPM repository (RPM dates back to 6 October 2004, and it is the version shown in this video).
This video is also FULL HD 1080p 60FPS!
