New 4K Restoration of THE SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR
One of the most daring political films of the 1970’s, THE SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR embodies as much social significance today as it did upon its initial release. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name written by Sam Greenlee, the filmmaker, Ivan Dixon, explored what he considered to be “a fantasy that everybody felt, every Black male particularly.”
PFS and Reelblack are excited to present the Philly Premiere of the 4K restoration of this seminal film followed by a discussion and book-signing with special guests Nomathandé Dixon (daughter of director Ivan Dixon) and Natiki Hope Pressley (daughter of author Sam Greenlee).
