You might think Mercury is the hottest planet because it's closest to the Sun, but that's wrong! While Mercury can reach 430°C (800°F) during the day, it has no atmosphere to trap heat, so at night, it drops to -180°C (-290°F).
Meanwhile, Venus is the real champion! With a thick atmosphere full of CO₂, it traps heat like a giant oven, keeping its surface at a scorching 465°C (869°F) day and night.
