The SkillRun TX 500 from TechnoGym is a high-end hybrid treadmill which fits well in both home and commercial settings. It stands out mainly because of its slat belt, but also etches a top spot due to a high speed limit and wide incline range.
An option for motorized or non-motorized function also sets it apart from competing models while biofeedback technology makes it ideal for professional trainers.
Features
Deck
TechnoGym’s SkillRun TX 500 doesn’t have the conventional single-piece treadmill belt. It has a slat belt. That means that the belt is made from many slats joined to form a belt.
With the industry standard size for treadmill decks being 20 inches wide and 60 inches long, this model’s deck is one of the largest in the market. At 22 inches wide and 68 inches long, it provides more than enough room for bigger users as well as tall runners who typically have long stride lengths.
Size
It is not just the price tag on this model that is hefty. This is a large, heavy treadmill. If you choose to use it at home, it is best placed in a garage or other spacious dedicated area.
Unlike smaller treadmills, this one is not recommended for apartments or upstairs floors because of its weight. You also don’t want to be carrying equipment this size up flights of stairs.
Motor
This is another unique feature in this model. It gives you the option for motorized or non-motorized operation.
When non-motorized, you replace the motor by propelling the belt using your leg movements. In this case, the belt only moves as fast as you run. There is no speed limit.
In motorized mode, the SkillRun TX 500’s belt is propelled by a motor and can move at a maximum speed of 18.6 miles per hour. Yet another high considering the industry standard for treadmill speed is 12 miles per hour.
Incline and decline also trounces competing brands with an incline range between -3% and 25%. An impressive range compared to an industry average of 12%.
