Robinson Helicopter Company just announced a new engineering partnership with LakeForest Technologies to explore integrating lidar detection across the R22, R44, and R66 fleet — and this is genuinely one of the most exciting safety upgrades we’ve seen in years.
In this video, I break down what this Robinson–LakeForest lidar partnership means, how lidar could help pilots detect wires, power lines, and obstacles in low visibility, night operations, and confined-area environments, and why I’m extremely bullish on the direction Robinson is heading.
