In this video, Wes plays and compares the new Buffet Crampon R13 in Mopane wood to the R13 in Grenadilla wood.
Mopane is a sustainable African wood that is becoming increasingly popular for clarinets. It is similar in hardness and density to grenadilla, but some players say it has a slightly warmer and more mellow tone, and is more resistant to cracking.
In this video, Wes plays a variety of passages on both clarinets, so you can hear the difference in tone quality for yourself. We'll leave the final verdict to you, but if you'd like Wes' opinion, feel free to contact us via our phone, email, or website.
If you are considering buying a new R13, this video is a great resource for comparing the two woods.
Watch the video to hear the difference for yourself, and then decide which wood is right for you!
