Celebrating the Life of the Late Gogo Anna Jepchumba Samoei

BIRTH AND FOUNDATION
The late Anna Jepchumba Samoei was born in 1953 in Sergoit Village, Elgeyo Marakwet. Shewas the beloved daughter of the late Antonio Yator, the late Christina, the late Margaret, and Mary Yator of Sergoit Village. She was a loving sister to the late Helena, Alfred, Cornelius, Clementina, Joseph, and the late Mary.Kogo Anna’s upbringing was in a close-knit and Godfearing family where she learned the values of hard work, humility, and compassion. After her marriage to Julius Samoei, she moved to Eldama Ravine, where together they built a loving home and raised their children.
EDUCATION AND WORKING LIFE
Kogo Anna began her education at Sergoit Primary School and later proceeded to Sing’ore Girls High School, where she studied until 1971. She excelled in her studies, remained disciplined and determined throughout. In 1972, she pursued her career as a Nurse Assistant at Mercy Hospital, where she diligently served with care and dedication. After retiring,Kogo Anna devoted herself to her home raising her children and engaging in farming activities particularly dairy farming and poultry keeping. She was hardworking and entrepreneurial. She was exceptionally skilled in value addition of milk through making ghee and traditional milk; mursik (mala). Kogo Anna turned these abilities into a successful dairy enterprise for her family and the entire
community. She instilled in her children and grand children the values of education, discipline, and hard work.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY.
Kogo Anna married the love of her life Julius Samoei in 1973 and together they were blessed with children namely: Henry, the late Susan, Lucy, Pamela, Wilson, Sammy, the late Catherine, Mary, Lilian, and Paul. She was a daughter-in-law to the late Kipngetich Chilgong (Kitiyo) and the late Sote. She was sister-in-law to Jeremiah, Mary, Wesley, Samwel, Benson, Philomena, James, Esther, late Francis, Rosa, Loise, PST. Joyce, and Nelly. Kogo Anna was a loving mother-in-law to Risper, the late Evans, Abraham, the late Isaac, Joyce, Costerlyne, Raphael, Edward, and Deborah. Affectionately known as Kogo, she was a cherished grandmother and a
great-grandmother to many. Her love, wisdom, and guidance continue to live on through her generations.
SOCIAL AND CHRISTIAN LIFE
Kogo Anna will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith in God. She attended AIC Moringwo where she was a member of Christian Women Fellowship (Wake Wakristo). She dedicated her life to the well-being of her family and community. She was a strong, nurturing, and prayerful woman. She touched many lives through her hospitality, gentleness and warm spirit. She loved farming, caring for her household, supporting her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. Her legacy of love, unity, humility, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
HEALTH AND FINAL DAYS
Kogo enjoyed good health and a vibrant life for many years. On the night of 21st November 2025, she suddenly began feeling unwell, experiencing headache, nausea and fatigue. She was rushed to Nursing Home Hospital, where she received treatment and felt some relief. However, on the morning of Monday, 24th November 2025, she complained of chest pain. Despite efforts to help her, she unfortunately passed away due to a heart attack. May her gentle soul rest in
eternal peace.
