AIP leader and jailed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid has announced a day-long hunger strike on December 31, 2025, inside Tihar Jail. The hunger strike is being observed in solidarity with protesting students of the North East, including Tripura, and to express sympathy with the family of MBA student Angle Chakma.
In a statement issued through his legal team, Er Rashid strongly condemned racist attacks and lynching incidents targeting minorities from the North East and Jammu & Kashmir in different parts of India. He questioned the delayed response of authorities and demanded urgent action against those involved in hate crimes.
