Erith Model Railway Society Exhibition - Saturday 28th January 2023 part 1

Welcome back to the ba14eagle channel and another model railway exhibition - this the second of 2023. A bit of a hike from West Wiltshire took me to Longfield in North Kent for this very busy show. With the promise of over 30 layouts and nearly as many traders this was going to be a busy day! I will apologise now - there were about 8 layouts that I didnt get around to filming or when I got to them, there was nothing happening or technical issues had stopped train movements. As I said earlier, this was a large and very busy show, which was actually very tiring getting around. Anyway, enough bumbling, this is what can be seen in this, part 1:
Back on the Buses - not a model railway, but as the names suggests, a town diorama upon which buses move. This uses the Faller car system (as City Centre did in years gone by).
Bletchinghurst - a OO gauge branchline in Kent, loosely based on the Kent & East Sussex Railway.
Browning Street - a fictitious Western region branch terminus station, modelled in N gauge.
Fawcett Street - a micro shunting layout, set in an inner city suburb, modelled in OO gauge.
Feldspar - an N gauge coffee table layout. The whole set up that Anna and Ray make at exhibitions makes you think you are in their living room. Super!
Hoppers End - a private railway that connects several hop plantations in Kent / East Sussex. Modelled in 4mm scale.
Lenham - an N gauge layout, that is based on the Kent station in the late 1950's / early 1960s. Some of the areas landmark buildings feature.
Mertonford Summer 1983 - a layout modelled in the rarely seen HO scale - rare for British Rail outline models anyway. Most of the equipment used has its roots in the 1970's / early 1980's.
N E Where - an N gauge modular set up by West Sussex N gauge Model railway Club. A number of self contained, individual layouts, that have outer running lines at laid down baseboard parameters, which when bought together, can all be connected to make 1 large layout.
Quarry Falls - another N gauge layout, this time modelling American outline operations within a mountainous, quarry enviroment. The layout is operated under dcc, computer control. Some European rolling stock can also be seen in the film footage.
Santa Maria (RhB) - a Swiss metre gauge railway, modelled in 3.5mm HO scale. The time period of operation is set between 2006 and 2010.
Scrapworth End - Is a modern image traction maintenance depot in 4mm scale OO gauge. Differing modern liveries can be seen as traction comes on and off the depot.
Somewhere in France - OO9 narrow gauge trains running through the World War 1 frontlines of the French battlefields. This layout, though not a happy or glamourous subject, features many cameos of everyday sights, of the setting. Horses being cared for, munitions being moved, injured soldiers being tended to at a field hospital are just some of the sights to be seen.
Finally, Swanswell - this N gauge layout features the builders favourite Network SouthEast liveried trains of the late 1980's and early 1990's. Set in South London, the rear of the layout features a typically busy street scene.
I hope you enjoy this very varied selection of layouts - many of which are new to my films. But thats what I set out to achieve this day - travel further afield and bring the audience plenty of new sights.
