Fasteners, clips, screws and snaps in Porsche Cayenne trim systems are (poorly) engineered, overly complex, prone to breakage, non-intuitive and incredibly frustrating. It’s hard to believe that a company which markets itself as simply brilliant is so ridiculously inefficient at designing its interiors. In this video I show the array of fasteners and connection methods as well as barriers to service and unnecessary cost that Porsche lazily delivers. I say lazily because good engineering should be elegant in its simplicity and have forethought beyond the day of sale. Anyone who has serviced these cars can appreciate the frustration. I’m left to assume that a team of apprentice engineers (who have never held a wrench) attempted to make use of every part number in the fastener section if the warehouse. Enjoy and have a laugh or two at my expense. One ling-time Porsche owner ( “wrench”) opinion piece.
