Wellington International Airport is located in Rongotai, Wellington, New Zealand, and is the second busiest airport in the country after Auckland. It operates a single runway and has connections to various domestic and international destinations, with Air New Zealand and Sounds Air being the primary airlines. The airport also hosts some general aviation businesses. However, the airport is known for sometimes rough and turbulent landings due to strong winds caused by the channelling effect of Cook Strait.

Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport, is the second busiest airport in Australia and serves the city of Melbourne. It has four terminals, including one international, two domestic, and one budget domestic terminal, and is located in Tullamarine, 23 km northwest of the city centre. The airport handles around 25 million domestic passengers and 10 million international passengers annually and offers direct flights to various domestic and international destinations. Melbourne Airport serves as a major hub for Qantas and Virgin Australia, and Jetstar uses it as their home base. It also handles more domestic freight than any other airport in Australia.

Qantas Airways operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which are narrow-body jets used primarily for domestic and short-haul international flights.
