The Thelonious Monk Orchestra At Town Hall LP on Riverside

Produced by Orrin Keepnews and recorded in concert in New York City in February 1959, At Town Hall finds pianist extraordinaire Thelonious Monk in a rare big band setting with Phil Woods, Pepper Adams and Charlie Rouse (saxophone), Donald Byrd (trumpet), Sam Jones (bass), Art Taylor (drums) and additional brass performing six of his originals as arranged by Hall Overton. Monk's 1963 Philharmonic Hall concert was his only other recorded work of note where he performed in this type of setting, making the highly regarded At Town Hall a real treasure.
