History:
The Bell OH-58 Kiowa is a single-engine, single-rotor military helicopter used for observation, utility, training, and direct fire support. The Kiowa, named after the Native American tribe, is based on the civilian Bell Model 206A JetRanger. The US Army used the Kiowa from 1969 to 2017, acquiring 2,200 between 1968 and 1973. The Kiowa Warrior, an upgraded OH-58D introduced in 1991, was designed for armed reconnaissance in hostile environments.
